What are the requirements of CE mark?
- The CE marking can be reduced or enlarged, the proportions given in the drawing below must be respected.
- The CE marking must have a height of at least 5mm.
- The CE marking must be affixed to the product or to its data plate. Additionally it must be affixed to the packaging, if any, and to the accompanying documents.
- The CE marking must be affixed visibly, legibly and indelibly.
What is the definition of TOY? As defined in EN55014-1 and EN55014-2, the definition of toy is: A product designed for, or clearly intended for use in play by children under 14 years old and supply voltage below 24V AC/DC.
What EMC test should be covered for an electric toy? From the end of 2001, the scope of EN55014-1 and EN55014-2 cover toy product.
The tests contains: For battery operated(B/O) product: EN55014-1, Radiated disturbances test EN55014-2 (EN61000-4-2), ESD test
For AC mains product: EN55014-1, Power disturbances test & Terminal voltage test EN55014-2 (EN61000-4-2), ESD test EN55014-2 (EN61000-4-3), Radio frequency electromagnetic fields test EN55014-2 (EN61000-4-4), Fast transients test EN55014-2 (EN61000-4-5), Surges test EN55014-2 (EN61000-4-6), Injected currents test EN55014-2 (EN61000-4-11), Voltage dips and interruptions test EN61000-3-2, Harmonics test EN61000-3-3, Voltage fluctuation test
How can I reduce the motor emissions in order to meet the requirements? There are some typical suggestions for reducing motorized emission:
- Add choke coils and capacitors on the motor. And the length of components lead should be as short as possible.
- Use EMC/DV motor.
- Twins the motor wire.
- Keep all wires and metal components apart from the motor.
For my products have the same design, why I got different results, passed in old samples but failed in new ones? The different result may be caused by the deviation of the sample, tolerance of major components, for examples: motor, crystal, capacitor or inductor in RF part, as well as installation workmanship. And also may be caused by the uncertainty of the test environment.
What can I do to avoid failure in ESD test? There are some critical points of ESD failure:
- LCD glass: Add protection plastic sheer/cover or increase the thickness of it.
- Battery door: Avoid direct air-discharge between the air-gap of battery door. i.e. constructional improvement should be made. Or/And add capacitor and choke coil in the battery wire.
- Screw: Remove the wire and components near the screw.
